Pakistan Super League T20 logo to be unveiled today
The logo of Pakistan Cricket Board’s much-awaited Pakistan Super League T20 will be unveiled on Thursday (today).
Full of thrill, action and nail-biting contests, the lucrative tournament is expected to be run from March 24 to April 14 this year in Lahore.
According to news Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf will chair the logo unveiling ceremony.
Sources said the secretariat to run Pakistan Super League T20 has already been constituted and a former banker Sarwar Salman has been appointed as the managing director. Additionally, PCB is also paying a whopping amount to former executive director of International Cricket Council (ICC) Haroon Lorgat to work as event’s advisor.
“The PCB has made up its mind to go ahead with the super league in March and Lorgat, the Indian company and the executive director Badar Rafai were using their contacts to to sign overseas players,” the source said.
“The PCB is hopeful that particularly the involvement of Lorgat as tournament consultant and advisor will have long term benefits for them and they should be able to attract some notable players for the event.”
Sources said Pakistan Super League T20 will last for 15 days and a total 30 matches between five teams will be played. At least one Twenty20 ‘super star’ is being targeted for each team.
The insiders further told that 30 foreign cricketers including shortest format specialists from new ICC World Twenty20 winners West Indies have been invited for the league.
By successfully staging Pakistan Super League T20, PCB is keen to revive international cricket in country, which became a no-go zone for international teams after the terrorist attacks on the Sri Lankan team bus three years ago in which eight people were killed and seven touring players wounded along with their assistant coach.
