Haqqani network formally declared terrorists
The United States Government has formally announced Haqqani Network as a terrorist organization. Haqqani Network is named after Jalal-ud-din Haqqani who once remained a key US ally in war against Russia. Haqqani Network is based in Pakistan and is mostly targets NATO troops in Afghanistan. Declaration was finally signed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton which states that the organization “meets the statutory criteria for designation as a foreign terrorist organization,”
Many of Haqqani Network leaders are already facing U.S. imposed sanctions. Organization is under armed attack as well. A key member Badruddin Haqqani was killed as a result of drone attack in North Waziristan few days ago. He was wanted in Journalist David Rohde who was associated with New York Times.
